[Hall of Fame] Cynthia Rothrock

Cynthia_Rothrock

The leading lady of our namesake (and very first blog post) has finally made it to our Hall of Fame. Cynthia has starred in three 24hrs2midnight classics (24 Hours to Midnight, Lady Dragon, Outside the Law) and many more. The more we learn about Cynthia, the more we like her. Let us educate you:

1. From 1981 to 1985, she was the undefeated World Karate Champion in both forms and weapon competition (that’s a unisex title, meaning she beat out women and men for it).

2. She is proficient in the use of chain whip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqMxcUokXQo), bo staff, Chinese double broadswords, iron fan, and hook swords. If you can handle the techno, this clip is highly awesome:

3. The character Sonya Blade (“Mortal Kombat”) was based on Cynthia Rothrock.

Note: If you have been identified as a friend or loved one of Cynthia Rothrock, then you have until the end of the opening credits to put your affairs in order, because you’re about to die. Cyn has a habit of going on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge brought on by the death of a loved one. For example, Cynthia’s father (“China O’Brien”), her husbands (“24 Hours to Midnight”, “Lady Dragon”, “Lady Dragon II”), fiancees (“Guardian Angel”, “Outside the Law”), and sisters (“Undefeatable”, “Sworn to Justice”) all get murdered by the end of the first act. She’s a tough lady to love.

Oh hey, she was on “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”:

Kyle Gallner AKA Timmy Everyteen

Congratulations, Kyle Gallner! You are the newest inductee to the 24H2Midnight Hall of Fame!

Kyle has starred in the required three 24H2Midnight movies: A Haunting in Connecticut, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Jennifer’s Body (“A Body of Jennifer’s”?). Kyle owes much to his ability to play squirrelly, neurotic teens. So, if YOUR movie needs a squirrelly, neurotic teen, call Kyle Gallner!

You might know him from: “Veronica Mars”. You haven’t watched “Veronica Mars”? OK, you can borrow my DVDs.

[Hall of Fame] Zelda Rubinstein

da

Today, we induct Zelda Rubinstein in the “24 Hours to Midnight: The Hall of Fame”. Zelda has starred in Teen Witch, Little Witches, and Southland Tales, along with countless other films that had a role for a small, odd-looking, sassy lady.

Sadly, Zelda Rubinstein passed away today at the age of 76.

No jokes today. We’re too bummed.

And now, we have live reactions, from 24H2M staff:

naturalie: WHOA! Not true!!! What a sin.
mystyron: “OH NOOOOO!!!!”
savagebrewtality: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”

Congratulations, Winnipeg! You have starred in three 24 Hours to Midnight classics! The entirety of “Brotherhood 3: Young Demons” and “The Haunting in Connecticut”, as well as sections of Silent Hill, Cursed, and Resident Evil: Apocalypse were all filmed in the Murder Capital of Canada.

Accepting this award is Winnipeg’s own, Chantal Kreviazuk.

Don't be sad, Milla. We liked you in "The Fifth Element".

Don't be sad, Milla. We liked you in "The Fifth Element".

Milla Jovovich was on “Project Runway” as a guest judge this week. That reminds us: She’s already qualified as a Hall of Famer!

The staff of “24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!” is proud to announce the induction of Milla Jovovich into our Hall of Fame. Milla starred in Ultraviolet, The Million Dollar Hotel, and the Resident Evil series. We have a soft spot for this weirdo.

Dear, sweet weirdo.

[Hall of Fame] Kerr Smith

Lotta shine. Lotta forehead.

Lotta shine. Lotta forehead.

Today, we induct Kerr Smith into the “24 Hours to Midnight” Hall of Fame.

Kerr Smith, who rose to fame by acting as a gay on the WB’s Dawson’s Creek, has now been featured on “24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!” three times:  Final DestinationMy Bloody Valentine 3D, and The Forsaken. Wow – a horror franchise, a horror remake, and 1990s vampires. Good work, Kerr. You’re a Hall of Famer, for sure!

p.s. His middle name is Van Cleve.

[Hall of Fame] Idris Elba

Idris Elba as Stringer Bell

Idris Elba as "Stringer Bell"

For serious?

With deep regret, we place Idris Elba in the “24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!” Hall of Fame. Elba is a British television/theatre/film actor who is probably best known for his portrayal of Stringer Bell on the brilliant HBO series “The Wire”.

HOWever, Elba has managed to take starring roles in the requisite three “24 Hours to Midnight” film entries (The Unborn, Prom Night, and Obsessed aka “Oh No She Didn’t”). AND he’s in Hilary Swank pseudo-religious clunker “The Reaping”, which we haven’t gotten around to reviewing yet. His Rotten Tomatoes rating (an average rating of all of the films an actor has starred in) is a dismal 11%.

How does this kind of thing happen?

Blingee Tribute: Bai Ling

24h2m Hall of Famer Bai Ling

24h2m Hall of Famer Bai Ling

In order to appeal to all of our readers who seem to love Bai Ling, we’d like to present you with a tribute to one of our favorite B-movie stars–behold, Bai Ling! When she’s not getting mugshots for such glamourous crimes as shoplifting or starring in everyone’s least favorite episode of Lost, Bai Ling likes to get all fancy–as seen in the above photo! Though the photo is only our rendition of Bai Ling’s true essence, we feel it represents one question everyone asks when it comes to this famous actor: “What’s that on her face??”
