[site news] We’ve gone legit!

Oh, hi.
You may have noticed that our posts have gone from “frequent” to “decidedly frequentesque”. This is where a lot of blogs issue a post-mortem, remarking on what a long strange journey it’s been, and bowing out gracefully. However, that is not the case for us. We’ve been busy with a whole new frontier of 24H2M life:  freelancing!

Our friends at The Scope (the local arts & entertainment magazine in St. John’s, Newfoundland) have asked us to bring our signature style to their readers.

We’re presently found weekly on thescope.ca, every Friday. You can check out the stuff we’ve already posted here:
FRIGHT NIGHT (2011)
THE INITIATION (1984)
ORCA (1977)
IN THE NAME OF THE KING (2006)

We’re posting ALL NEW CONTENT in a HOT NEW STYLE using our RUDIMENTARY KNOWLEDGE OF HOME COMPUTERS. thescope.ca also has other great content daily, including their Track of the Day and other stuff that you don’t need to be a local to be into. We’ll still be posting here, but new stuff goes to thescope.ca first, and weeks before it hits the blog here.

So, yeah. thescope.ca, every Friday.

BTW, this is us being modest:

[site news] Best?

In the most recent issue of The Scope, the results of the 4th Annual Best of St. John’s Survey were printed, including the results for the hotly-contested category of Best Local Blog.

The Scope St. John's

You'll notice that the carpet in boylorne's apartment is elegant, luxe, and moderately stain-resistant.

We don’t even really need to open it. We’re already Internet famous. Do we really want be MORE famous? The answer is yes, so let’s move on.

Ryan Snoddon

A winner is not us. Clearly, democracy doesn’t work. If it did, the citizens of the world would have chosen the blog that is totally BFFs with Bai Ling. Instead, they pick some deserving local blog. Insult to injury: Local weather goon Ryan Snoddon is there to talk about fame. FAME. On the same page as US.

You’re dead to us, print media!

(though you did print our site address in “Other Responses” so we’re OK)

UPDATE:

Ryan Snoddon: Hot Business?

Hot Business? YOU DECIDE!

[site news] 100 000 visitors!

Wow! 100 000 visitors! Over this past year, we figure we’ve gained a legion of faithful followers (well, we have one guy, and he has a blog where he posts pictures of himself on the toilet). Anyways, we’re always glad when people visit, comment, and share. So, thanks!

With somewhere around 200 films haiku’d, you may think that we’re running out of filth to roll around in. Happily, that is not the case.  I made another stop into our favourite video store to peruse the archives. I made some purchases.

Three piles of VHS tapes and cases

Glory!

What we have here is a a Whitman’s Sampler of 24H2Midnight wonders. We’ve got films by some of our favorites: Cynthia Rothrock! Fred Olen Ray! Tawny Kitaen! Billy Dee Williams, Morgan Fairchild and Vanity starring in the same movie!

Also in the pile is “Zardoz”.  If you know what “Zardoz” is, you are having a nerdgasm right now. If you don’t know what “Zardoz” is, I suggest you do a Google Image Search (and have some bleach ready for your eyes).

Happy Saturnalia, y’all!

We’re watching Black Christmas (the Michelle Trachtenberg one) and maybe Silent Night Deadly Night. There is also booze. And Bumpits.

[site news] 50,000 views!

So, we’re getting Internet famous. We’re not there yet… but we’re getting there.
I mean, 50 000 visitors. Pretty good, right?
We owe a lot of that to one special resident of the moon: Bai Ling.
To get specific, 34% of all of our traffic is, in fact, related to Bai Ling.

So, on this grand occasion, we decided to use our growing Internet celebrity status to reach out to Bai Ling, via Twitter. And she reached back.

We said: @realbailing What would your signature scent smell like?

She said: “my signature smells the most incridble scant of rose”

There you have it, folks.
24 Hours to Midnight: Now with the most incridble scant of rose.

Vote us for Best Local Blog!

If you live/love our fair city, then you can vote for “24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!” for Best Local Blog in the Scope’s 4th Annual Best of St. John’s Survey!

Here’s what you need to know:
1. You don’t have to answer every question on the survey, but YOU MUST ANSWER A MINIMUM OF 15 CATEGORIES FOR YOUR ANSWERS TO BE COUNTED IN THE RESULTS.
2. We appreciate the support of our non-island friends, but if you’re not from here, then please don’t fill out the survey.
3. The survey can be found at thescope.ca.

THANKS! And if you have suggestions for other worthy nominees in any category, leave a message in the comments.

[site news] And we’re back!

We made it out of the cabin in the woods alive! We should also note that we stopped into the video store in my hometown where they were basically having the sale of the century: VHS tapes, $1 each.

Given the opportunity to choose from what I’ve always considered to be the greatest depository of B-movies on the entire eastern seaboard, we may have gone a little overboard.

Between the four of us, how many VHS tapes did we buy?

47.

47.

They smell like the library, and we love them all dearly.
